Method Description
Listeria monocytogenes is a psychrotrophic pathogen capable of growth at refrigeration temperatures, causing listeriosis with high mortality rates in immunocompromised individuals and pregnant women. Testing is critical for ready-to-eat foods because L. monocytogenes can multiply during cold storage when other pathogens cannot. The qPCR method provides rapid detection compared to traditional culture methods, enabling faster decision-making for product release or hold decisions.
