Method Description
Steviol glycosides are the naturally derived sweet-tasting compounds found in the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana, encompassing a family of related diterpene glycosides — including stevioside, rebaudioside A, rebaudioside D, and others — that deliver intense sweetness without caloric contribution. Quantifying individual and total steviol glycoside content is central to ingredient specification compliance, label accuracy for sweetener systems, and meeting FCC and FDA identity and purity standards for food-grade stevia extracts. This method employs HPLC with diode array detection against authenticated reference standards to separate, identify, and quantify the full steviol glycoside profile in stevia leaf extracts, purified preparations, and rebaudioside or stevioside ingredients, as defined in the FCC Steviol Glycosides Monograph.
