Cambium Analytica Opens New 15,000 Sq Ft Laboratory in Traverse City, Michigan
October 22, 2026

Overview
Cambium Analytica, an NSF company, has opened a new 15,000 sq ft laboratory in Traverse City, Michigan, one year after joining NSF. The lab brings analytical testing, stability and shelf life, contract research, product development, and compliance services together for companies in the dietary supplement, food, beverage, and ingredient industries.
A Single Batch Has Many Testing Needs
A single batch of a dietary supplement or natural product can call for several kinds of work: routine analytical testing for QA and batch release, stability and shelf life studies to support dating, contract research to support claims, and compliance services around all of it. Those needs often arrive together, and coordinating them has meant managing each one as its own relationship.
Inside the New Traverse City Laboratory
The lab is the result of a $5 million investment in facility improvements, new equipment, and instruments relocated from a former Massachusetts laboratory. Its equipment includes chromatography and mass spectrometry systems, spectroscopy instruments, microbiological testing platforms, sample preparation equipment, and automation and robotics. The lab is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, offers a library of over 400 tests, and can perform more than 60,000 tests per month. Cambium Analytica expects to more than double its scientific staff with new technical positions.
The goals are practical: expand testing capacity, speed up method development, and bring R&D scientists and lab leadership closer together. Construction continues, with final build-out wrapping in November, and new capabilities come online as each phase is completed.
What Under One Roof Means for QA and Batch Release
Routine QA and batch release run at Cambium Analytica, alongside stability and shelf life, contract research, and compliance services. Certification stays with NSF. "Cambium Analytica's new lab positions us as a full-service scientific partner to companies within the food, dietary supplement and ingredient industries," said Chris Kirwin, Global Director of Wellness, NSF.
Who This Is For
Brand quality and regulatory teams get routine testing, stability studies, and compliance support in one place. Contract manufacturers and ingredient suppliers gain a single partner for the testing that supports their customers. Product development and R&D teams can bring formulation questions and method development to the same lab that runs their routine work.
