Conceived by Gary Levine and designed by Kim Brandell, Neptune Memorial Reef (aka Atlantis Reef) off of Miami beach is the world's largest man-made reef. The reef serves as a burial site, where cremated remains are mixed into cement sculptures. The first phase of this sculpture park occupies 16 acres of ocean floor and opened for diving in 2007. Today the sculptures are covered in coral and thriving with wildlife. Chef personality, Julia Childs was incorporated into the reef in 2004.
